Capture More Magic Simultaneously
It’s All About the Transformer
The extended frequency response in both the high and low octaves that the Starplex Active Direct Interface retains is that ineffable breath and air that inspires musicians.
With two channels, you can record the pristine original sound of your instrument, and also record the high power speaker output of your guitar or bass amp, and capture all the nuances of your carefully crafted tones.
By all means, record your guitar amp with a mic, but there are many creative advantages to utilizing the direct interface to your power amp. First is the absolute phase coherence of the two signals, second is the detail of the tones from your amp, and third is the infinite combinations available now with cabinet simulation plugins!
First, turn off the +48V, and turn the pot all the way down on the DI, before plugging into the power amplifier, then just electrify and adjust the level for unity gain. It’s always best to hook up your speaker to the OUT (thru) connection to provide a load for the amplifier. Please consult your amplifier’s manual for more information.
